Help Gene Expression Heatmap

The heatmap shows expression values in TPM of more than one gene for determined RNA-Seq experiment. To visualize the expression values follow the following steps:

Filters Form

Form Gene Expression Heatmap
(A) Organism

Select one organism from the list. The organisms in this list are those that have gene expression information associated. When an organism is selected, the list of studies and the list of genes are reloaded.

(B) Study Name

Select one study from the list. The list of studies is reloaded with the RNA-Seq studies of the previously selected organism.

(C) Search Features

This text box can be used to search for a particular gene by its name or a hit of the name. The list of genes is refreshed with the genes whose names match the text entered.

(D) Select Features

This container allocates the list of genes filtered by the previous described components. Choose the genes to retrieve the gene expression values. When you click on a gene, its name will automatically appear on the text area of the section (E) that registers selected features.

(E) Selected Features

This text box receive the name of the selected genes.

(F) Display Expression Heatmap

Click on this button to show the heatmap of the expression values of the selected genes.

(G) Try an Example

This button allows to load heatmap with pre-defined genes.

Expression Chart

Chart Gene Expression Heatmap
(A) Select an Analysis to Display

In case there more than one genome assembly for one species this can be selected in this menu..

(B) Select a Property to Sort

The expression values in the heatmap can be sorted according to the selected property. These properties come from the meta data of the RNA-Seq samples.

(C) Gene Expression Value

This is the heatmap of the gene expression analysis where each row accounts for a gene and each column represents one sample. Values are sorted according to the selected property as described in (B). Expression values are normalized in TPM.

(D) Sample Meta-Data

Further information for each sample can be displayed by moving the mouse over any square of the heatmap.

(E) Download Expression Data for these Features

A file with the expression values for the selected genes can be downloaded by click on this link.
